VO4TA: Jimmy Stewart

I don’t know much about Old Hollywood but this rings true...

"I’ve always been skeptical of people who say they lose themselves in a part. Someone once came up to Spencer Tracy and asked ‘Aren’t you tired of always playing Tracy?’ Tracy replied, ‘What am I supposed to do, play Bogart?’ You have to develop a style that suits you and pursue it, not just develop a bag of tricks." - Jimmy Stewart

I can’t agree more.  When I teach I’m asked “Do you know any tricks or tips...” and I gotta say, not very much.  I believe this work is specific and you need to learn what works for you.  That’s not a trick - it’s a tool.  You can build a house or a snuffbox with a hammer.  But you need to know the right hammer to use and then learn which one of those types of hammer suits you.
